About Us
Tony O’Connor, an acclaimed equine artist, has been captivating art enthusiasts and horse lovers around the world with his stunning, lifelike depictions of equine beauty. Born in Kerry in 1977, Tony comes from a long line of blacksmiths. His earliest memories of horses are vividly imprinted with the image of them being shod in his grand uncle Mossie’s smoke-filled forge. This early exposure to horses and craftsmanship laid the foundation for Tony’s deep connection with equine subjects and his artistic journey.
Tony studied Fine Art at Crawford College of Art & Design, where he also gained his Higher Diploma in Art Education. From his humble beginnings in the early days of White Tree Studio, Tony’s dedication to his craft has seen his work exhibited in prestigious galleries and collected by enthusiasts globally.
Tony has a disciplined approach in his study of horse anatomy, placing great emphasis on technical execution. Each piece, whether it portrays a majestic stallion or new born foal, reflects Tony’s meticulous attention to detail and his profound connection with his subjects. The void of background and simplicity of the pieces serve to highlight the natural physical perfection of these animals, drawing in anyone who appreciates classic elegance.
Over the years, Tony has diversified his portfolio to include the enchanting wildlife native to Ireland, further showcasing his versatility and love for nature. Presently, Tony can be found working at his Cork-based studio, creating ever-evolving pieces of equine art. His dedication to capturing the essence of equine beauty and his expansion into depicting native Irish wildlife highlight his passion and versatility as an artist.
